You run a commercial HVAC service department, or you're the technical lead who effectively does. You're good at it. This role gives you the one thing your current job probably doesn't: the authority to run it the way you think it should be run.
You hold proper commercial gas qualifications - ACS commercial, not domestic-only. That's the part that matters. If you've got refrigeration and AC experience on top, that's a real plus, but the gas is what the role is built around. You've spent time in service management, technical support or operational leadership, and you're comfortable on the commercial side too: quotes, small works, mobilising new contracts.
You'll run the service department day to day and own the technical standard across it. The engineers and the approved subcontractor list, the rotas, standby, scheduling and training. You'll make sure statutory and mandatory PPM is planned, delivered, reported and followed up - and you'll be the technical point of reference the engineers come to across service, maintenance, repairs and remedials.
Alongside that there's a real commercial element. You'll produce quotations for service, repairs, remedials and small works, run small works projects from scope to completion, and mobilise new service agreements including site surveys and asset verification.
The role is office-based but not desk-bound. Expect regular time out on site, meeting clients and engineers, running audits and carrying out H&S checks where it matters.
This is effectively a new role, not a straight replacement. It's been shaped from similar roles the business has run before, which means there's room to put your own stamp on how the department runs.
An established, owner-managed commercial building services business based in north Hampshire, covering Surrey, Hampshire and the Berkshire border with some work into London. The service side runs on a core team of five or six engineers and an approved subcontractor list, across AC, commercial heating, ventilation, refrigeration and cold rooms, heat pumps and full hard FM. The office team come from technical backgrounds, not pure admin. It's the kind of place where a commercial HVAC service manager has real influence, rather than being one layer in a large structure.
This is an office-based role, so you'll need to be within reach of the Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire border day to day.
