Job Description

Flender South Africa is seeking a Mechanical Draughtspersonto join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise and detailed technical drawings of mechanical components requiring service, repair, or refurbishment. These drawings will guide our technicians in performing accurate and efficient repairs and maintenance on parts such asgearboxes, couplings, and other mechanical assemblies

Key Responsibilities:

Drawing Preparation & Accuracy

  • Create accurate and detailed drawings for repair and service procedures, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.

  • Proficient in calculating gear parameters such as module, pitch, pressure angle, gear ratios, tooth strength, contact stress, and load distribution to ensure optimal performance and durability.

  • Measure or calculate detail of geared components for manufacture and foundation loadings of drive packs.

  • Ensure that all outputs from the Drawing Department conform to the required technical standards and specification.

  • Experience in re-engineering of gearbox components.

Support Repair Operations

  • Collaborate with repair technicians and engineers to interpret drawings and specifications for repair processes.

  • Revise drawings as necessary based on real-time feedback from the repair process.

  • Review drawings for accuracy according to customer specifications, requirements and technical standards.

Requirements:

  • Must have a Mechanical Engineering Diploma /Degree

  • A Certificate in Mechanical Drafting would be an advantage

  • 2-5 years working with in a mechanical production environment (Industrial Gears would be an advantage)

  • Proficient with AutoCAD 3D and 2D, Solid Edge, MS office

  • A good understanding of the conveyor belt drives, and the couplings is preferred

  • Excellent technical communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical abilities

  • Able to work within strict deadlines
