Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) is looking for a Technical Sales Manager – Welding, Gases & Cylinders

Locations: Rotterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen Type: Full-time | Hybrid

At WSS we keep global trade moving by delivering trusted maritime solutions to customers around the world. We are now looking for a Technical Sales Manager – Welding, Gases & Cylinders to strengthen our welding and gases offering and drive profitable growth across our marine products portfolio.

This is a highly collaborative role where technical expertise meets commercial impact. You’ll work closely with WSS account managers, vessel managers, port engineers, and customers — translating complex welding and gas solutions into real value for vessels and operations worldwide.

Your role:

As Technical Sales Manager, you will actively drive both internal and external sales of welding products and services. You’ll support day‑to‑day welding repair needs, retrofit projects, and long‑term agreements — while shaping customer‑specific sales strategies and strengthening WSS’s position as a trusted technical partner.

You’ll be at the center of the technical sales process: answering advanced technical questions, supporting inspections, contributing to tenders, and helping close deals by clearly articulating the commercial value of our solutions.

If you enjoy combining hands‑on technical knowledge with relationship building and business development, this role offers real scope to make an impact.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide daily sales, customer service, and technical support related to welding, gases, and cylinder solutions.

  • Conduct welding inspections and vetting activities, preparing technical assessment reports for customers.

  • Prepare and structure welding product portfolios for customer agreements and retrofit projects.

  • Support tenders and bids by analyzing procurement history and aligning solutions with end‑user needs.

  • Act as a technical authority for welding products and services, setting high standards for expertise and best practice.

  • Identify and develop sales opportunities by combining market insight, customer understanding, and technical knowledge.

  • Drive profitable sales growth by building strong relationships with new and existing customers.

  • Lead customer seminars, crew and officer training, and represent WSS at industry events.

  • Maintain accurate CRM data to track opportunities and sales progress.

  • Collaborate closely with product management and internal stakeholders to share insights and improve offerings.

  • Inspire a proactive, solution‑oriented sales mindset through a strong “can‑do” attitude.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent marine qualification (preferred).

  • Solid technical background in welding processes, mechanical works, handheld power tools, and marine gases.

  • Experience in technical sales, ideally in an international or maritime environment.

  • Proven ability to influence sales outcomes through technical expertise and commercial understanding.

  • Experience negotiating with customers and managing complex discussions effectively.

  • Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within tight timeframes.

  • Commercially minded, ambitious, and motivated by growth and results.

  • Digitally confident, with experience using Excel (including pivot tables), Microsoft Office, Copilot, CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), and analytics tools such as Power BI.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong command of English, both written and spoken.

What we offer

At WSS, you’ll join a global organization with a strong sense of purpose, collaboration, and care for its people. We offer a challenging and rewarding role, supported by:

  • Flexible working arrangements

  • WSS bonus scheme

  • Generous holiday allowance

  • Car allowance

  • Competitive pension and insurance plans
    (Benefits may vary by location)
