The Mechanical Roll Services and Cover Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting the roll MRS and cover business in North America. This includes acting as the primary liaison with global product management and R&D, leading new product launches, and executing strategic initiatives. The role also supports sales, operations, and the digital product portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the MRS and roll cover product line and monitor its financial performance.
  • Oversee quotations, product selection, and application benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to maintain product formulations and internal standards.
  • Perform finite element analysis and basic roll calculations.
  • Support and oversee digital tools such as TrackLight AR and NipDynamics.
  • Assist sales with product support and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in global and regional MRS and cover meetings.
  • Monitor order timelines and communicate delivery updates.
  • Travel ~50% of the time, including annual international meetings.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication, sales, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, JDE, and scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis.

Education & Experience

  • 3–5 years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of paper machine rolls and papermaking principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred; 2 years of higher education is a plus.
  • Familiarity with paper mill safety and etiquette.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, and stand.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) required in designated areas.
