Job Description

As a Technical Sales Architect for Tank Gauging and Inventory Management systems, you will play a key role in shaping technically sound, customer-centric solutions across upgrade and new-build projects. This role focuses on understanding customer environments, defining accurate scopes, and guiding proposal development to ensure alignment with real-world site conditions. You will collaborate closely with customers, sales teams, and internal proposal teams to deliver practical, cost-effective, and technically robust solutions across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Engage with customer site teams and engineering contacts to understand installed systems, operational constraints, and upgrade objectives.
  • Develop targeted clarifying questions for each opportunity, identifying what needs replacement versus what can be retained.
  • Review RFQs, P&IDs, tank schedules, and existing system documentation to identify scope gaps and validate assumptions.
  • Challenge unnecessary scope elements to avoid over-engineering and ensure proposals reflect actual site requirements.
  • Plan and conduct detailed site surveys across oil terminals, refineries, chemical plants, and storage facilities in MEA.
  • Gather critical data for upgrade proposals, including instrumentation, wiring, communication architecture, and tank configurations.
  • Evaluate opportunities for hardware reuse to reduce cost and simplify installation.
  • Prepare structured, high-quality survey reports that serve as the foundation for proposal and engineering activities.
  • Define and own the technical scope for upgrade projects involving Emerson Rosemount ATG systems.
  • Translate field data into clear inputs for proposal development teams, supporting accurate bill of materials and scope definition.
  • Determine migration strategies, specifying reuse, replacement, or retention of system components.
  • Review and validate proposals prepared by internal teams to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with site conditions.
  • Support commercial teams during tender evaluation by addressing technical queries and coordinating revisions.
  • Develop solutions based on Tank Hub technologies for smaller terminals and multi-product facilities.
  • Recommend appropriate instrumentation based on product type, tank design, and operational needs.
  • Support cost-effective solutions for customers where full-scale infrastructure is not required.
  • Identify when cybersecurity considerations are required and engage specialized teams appropriately.
  • Act as the interface between customers and cybersecurity experts to capture and communicate requirements.
  • Ensure security compliance requirements are incorporated into the overall solution scope.
  • Guide sales teams in qualifying opportunities effectively before technical escalation.
  • Conduct technical workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Emerson as a technical authority in customer engagements, events, and factory acceptance activities.
Who You Are:

You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, while demonstrating strong situational adaptability when facing shifting demands. You make sound decisions, even in the absence of complete information, and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset. You communicate clearly and effectively across diverse audiences, ensuring alignment and understanding at every stage of the project.
For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Experience working with industrial instrumentation, tank gauging, or process automation systems
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents such as P&IDs, system architecture diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to travel across MEA for site surveys and customer engagements
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of industrial environments such as oil & gas, chemicals, or storage terminals
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Familiarity with Emerson Rosemount tank gauging products or similar inventory management systems
  • Experience in system upgrades, migrations, or brownfield projects
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and industrial networking concepts
  • Exposure to cybersecurity considerations in operational technology environments
  • Experience supporting technical proposals or pre-sales engineering activities
