The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) drives the growth of Rakuten's ecosystem by delivering innovative, high-quality technology platforms characterized by integrated control and strategic partnerships.


Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across its diverse business units.

Position:
Position Details

As a technical project manager you are responsible for, under the manager's direction, for datacenter planning, design, and construction management while working closely with and managing vendors.

1) Leading Data Center Procurement Planning and Data Center Construction/Expansion Projects:
- Project management for new data center constructions and procurement
- Formulation and management of procurement and implementation plans for data center facilities and equipment
- Ensuring thorough compliance with data center regulations and laws
- Conducting data center risk assessments and risk management

2) Data Center Budget Management and Cost Reduction Initiatives:
- Project budget planning and management
- Formulation and implementation of cost reduction strategies
- Efficient operation and management of data centers

3) Standardization of Various Data Center Metrics:
- Forecasting future data center demand
- Standardization of data center facility infrastructure
- Cost information for construction, utilities, and related resources
- Standardization of data center security policies

4) AI/ML Technology / Green Initiatives:
- Proposal, planning, implementation, and effectiveness measurement of business efficiency improvements/automation utilizing the latest technologies

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data center strategic planning and development
- Background in complex commercial development required in data center industry
- Ability to solve problems using analysis, technical and organizational expertise
- Ability to communicate effectively with strong presentation skills, and the ability to impact and influence stakeholders
- Able to take a strategic approach with a track record of contributing to organizational growth
- Strong teamwork mentality, working well with internal and external team members, and able to drive execution through collaboration and networking
- Fluent in Japanese and English
