Job Description

Location: Hengelo, Netherlands

About the team

Within Engineering, the Fire Control segment team is responsible for all engineering activities related to the development of our Fire Control radar products and solutions: concept definition, system design, hardware & software development, system integration, verification, validation, and qualification. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Technical Project Manager (also referred to as WorkPackage Manager).

About your future role

You will be involved in the entire process from development to product realization, with a strong focus on system engineering, hardware, and software development. As a Technical Project Manager, you are responsible for managing a subproject to realize this scope across multiple development teams, within the context of challenging technical functionalities and an ambitious schedule. Together with fellow project managers and architects, you organize the entire subproject, overseeing processes and deliveries within the agreed timeline and budgets. The architect is technically responsible for the chosen solution approach and its realization; you ensure that your subproject fits seamlessly within the larger whole.

Key tasks:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute projects within the agreed budget, timeline, and scope

  • Effectively monitor project progress and report updates to relevant stakeholders or project team members

  • Proactive risk and opportunity management: foster a culture of proactive risk and opportunity management within the project teams

  • Coach and support project team members with the tasks assigned to them

Why are you a good match?

  • We are looking for a new colleague who:

  • Holds a completed technical Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, for example in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electronics, etc.

  • Has strong project management skills in managing complex development projects in the high-tech industry or similar (preferably IPMA-C or D certification).

  • Is a team player with a strong commitment to jointly achieving team goals.

  • Has a “can-do” mentality: entrepreneurial, flexible, and open-minded.

  • Is enthusiastic and persistent with good communication skills.

  • Speaks and writes fluent English.

What do you get in return?

  • A challenging job in a fun team within our high-tech, innovative work environment, including plenty of room for your own initiatives and good ideas.

  • Opportunities for personal and professional development within the organization, for example in technical, commercial, or international areas.

  • Valuable international collaborations with colleagues from 68 countries.

  • A comfortable workplace in a modern environment, with attention to flexibility and the right work-life balance.

  • Usually the possibility to work where and when you want, to perform your work as well and efficiently as possible. Within Thales, we implement hybrid working, allowing you, for example, to work from home two days a week if your role permits.

  • A good salary, appropriate travel allowance, and the opportunity to personalize your employment benefits annually: for example, you can exchange leave days for internet costs, our cycling plan, company fitness, and relocation expenses.

  • 40 vacation days per year. Yes, really.
