The opportunity

The Australian e‑Health Research Centre (AEHRC) is CSIRO’s national digital health research program, bringing together world‑class research, innovation, and partnerships to support better healthcare outcomes for Australians. Our work spans digital health and biomedical informatics, including virtual care, evidence‑based digital health solutions, and improvements to the efficiency of health systems in Australia and internationally. With over 100 scientists and engineers across Australia, AEHRC is the nation’s largest digital health research program.

This is a unique opportunity to play a central project-focused technical role within the AEHRC, supporting the Sparked and Smart Forms programs to advance national digital health interoperability. As Technical Project Manager, you will work at the intersection of business, technology, and standards, helping translate strategic objectives into practical, well‑governed technical delivery. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Australia, contribute to the development and adoption of open data exchange standards, and help ensure delivery remains on track through strong planning, coordination, and reporting. Your work will directly support trusted, scalable digital health solutions that improve healthcare outcomes nationwide.

Your high-level duties will include:

• Coordinate and track technical delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
• Translate business and domain needs into technical deliverables, plans, and priorities.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational guidance, supporting teams to remove blockers and manage dependencies.
• Monitor progress, risks, issues, and technical debt, producing clear reports and documentation.
• Engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support knowledge sharing and standards adoption.

Role particulars

Location and office arrangements: Brisbane (Herston), QLD (preferred); Sydney (Westmead), NSW. Flexible working options available.

Salary: AU$135,571k - AU$158,863k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

Tenure & work schedule: Specified term until 30 June 2027, with possible extension; full time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

Essential criteria

• A relevant bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years’ experience in program or project management.
• Experience managing, implementing, and delivering successful projects in a technical environment, preferably within complex or regulated domains such as healthcare.
• Your ability to lead technical teams in delivering complex solutions, ensuring alignment between business goals and technical execution. Skilled in translating requirements into delivery plans, managing risks, and driving accountability across engineering and stakeholder groups.
• Your ability to multi-task, coordinate complex scheduling, and execute activities within required timeframes and to stakeholders’ expectations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare IT domain, particularly in systems interoperability and integration.

Applications that also demonstrate experience working in healthcare or digital health settings, supporting agile delivery, and contributing to standards‑based or cloud‑enabled technology environments will be highly regarded.
