PACCAR Electronics is seeking motivated and detail-oriented students to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program as part of our Technical Project Management (TPM) team This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience for project leadership supporting the development of advanced vehicle electronics, embedded software, and next generation commercial vehicle technologies.

What to Expect

  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), in person

  • Duration: Minimum 12 weeks

  • Location: Kirkland, WA

  • Start Dates: May 18, 2026, or June 22, 2026

  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this role (H1B, TN, OPT, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

As a Technical Project Management Intern, you will learn how complex engineering programs are planned, managed, and delivered by supporting activities such as:

  • Project Coordination & Product Development
    • Support early phase design research,development and testschedules, track risks, and assist with quality review workflows
    • Partner with hardware, software, and systems engineering leads to coordinating component-level tasks and maintaining team alignment and project delivery
    • Gather status updateson new development and defects, find and mitigate risks, and track engineering issues between Truck Division Program Managers and Embedded Engineering teams
  • Technical & Cross Functional Support
    • Prepare materials for technical reviews, document action items, and follow up with cross-functional stakeholders
    • Participate in discussions around new technical concepts and help document innovation requiring IP consideration
    • Support Functional Safety activities by tracking action items and learning how safety concepts (ISO 26262) are reviewed and approved
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
    • Create tools, and visualizations with repeatable AI prompts or custom code
    • Assist with updates to department procedures, documentation, and process optimization efforts
    • Develop and present project updates for internal stakeholders with guidance from senior TPMs
    • Contribute to improvements in software design, testing, and validation processes
    • Learn and support ASPICE aligned development practices across engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Currently a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree (graduation 2026–2027) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Software), STEM, or a related field
    • Foundational understanding of electrical systems, embedded components, or software development
    • Interest in coordinating cross functional engineering project work
    • Basic understanding of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or Iterative)
    • Coursework or exposure to engineering product development workflows
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple tasks
    • Willingness to travel domestically if required (rare for internships)
  • Preferred:
    • Pursuing a master's degree or active involvement in technical clubs, engineering organizations, or hands-on project teams
    • Interest or experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, robotics, or embedded systems engineering
    • Familiarity with project planningtools such as MS Project, Timeline, or equivalent
    • Familiarity with project management tools such as Rational Team Concert, Jira, or Monday
    • ExposureMATLABSimulink, Rhapsody, DOORS Next Gen, or requirements and modeling tools
    • Familiarity with vehicle networking protocols such as CAN, J1939, or LIN through coursework or lab projects
    • Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety or ASPICE from classes or independent study
    • Understanding systems engineering principles and requirements of management
    • Exposure Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement methodologies.
