Job Description


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience authoring memos that translate operational data and technical requirements for executive audiences.
  • Experience in executive or technical communication.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience translating complex data models into actionable strategic insights for VP-level leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Understanding of strategic planning hierarchies and the operational handoff process between internal product areas.
  • Exceptional patience and adaptability when driving alignment across a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, with an track record of managing extensive feedback cycles and numerous redrafts to achieve consensus on high-stakes communications.
  • Demonstrated success in developing PR and FAQ documents to drive consensus and clarify project requirements before execution.
  • Comfortability learning new technology and systems, analyzing datasets, and utilizing data to support strategic communications.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Machine Learning Strategy and Allocations (MLSA) Program Management Office (PMO) sits at the core of Google's AI resource governance, working directly with senior Product and AI leadership and driving strategic alignment across the entire AI ecosystem. MLSA-PMO partners with all aspects of the company to enable the capacity allocation, planning, and governance for one of the world's largest Machine Learning fleets in the era of AI, ML, and Agents. Our mission is to ensure that Google’s most critical AI products from Gemini and Search to Cloud and YouTube have the right ML compute at the right time to achieve maximum business and technical impact.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $237000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Author all MLSA communications, specifically those directed at AI2 leaders and product areas, ensuring complex resource decisions and strategies are clearly understood.
  • Craft comprehensive policy communications, operational mandates, and launch materials for internal tools.
  • Utilize the working backwards PR and FAQ process to author release and process communications, successfully bringing disparate groups together to agree on key action items or determine if more time is needed for critical discussions.
  • Partner with Product Areas, MSLA, and ML Fleet teams to translate fleet allocations decisions into actionable, clear communications for product areas, ensuring resource distribution aligns with Google’s ML priorities.
