Job Description

This is not a traditional project management role; it is a high-impact delivery leadership position. As the Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Ford Energy IT, you will lead the end-to-end orchestration of the entire IT portfolio required to stand up and run this business. From core ERP and CRM systems to bespoke services, you will ensure every software product is delivered, integrated, and ready for global business operations. You will thrive in this role if you are an expert at navigating ambiguity and building structure out of complexity to align a diverse suite of IT services with a strategic business launch.

  1. Full-Spectrum Program Orchestration
    • Lead the planning and execution of all Ford Energy IT workstreams required to launch and sustain the business.
    • Develop and maintain the master program schedule and complex dependency maps.
    • Ensure every IT service—whether internal or vendor-provided—is synchronized to meet critical business milestones and "go-live" dates.
  2. Strategic & Financial Stewardship
    • Oversee the end-to-end financial health of the Ford Energy IT portfolio, including budget planning and forecasting.
    • Track actual spend (CapEx/OpEx) to ensure the program delivers within fiscal targets.
    • Balance resources and align priorities across multiple product teams to ensure a cohesive and cost-effective IT ecosystem.
  3. Executive Communication & Risk Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for program health, communicating status, risks, and critical decisions to executive leadership and technical engineering teams.
    • Proactively identify technical and operational bottlenecks.
    • Develop and execute robust mitigation plans to keep the program on the critical path for launch.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Technical Program Manager leading large-scale, multi-workstream IT programs.
  • 3+ years of experience managing multi-million dollar IT program budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Strong technical background in software development and the SDLC.
  • Ability to navigate complex CapEx/OpEx allocations.

Preferred

  • Experience standing up IT infrastructure for a new business unit or startup venture.
  • Familiarity with the integration of core business systems like ERP (SAP/Oracle) and CRM (Salesforce).
  • Experience in the energy, automotive, or industrial manufacturing sectors.

Leadership Attributes

  • Expert in Ambiguity: Recognizes the needs of a program in execution and quickly defines roles and responsibilities where they may be unclear.
  • Complex Problem Solver: Capable of building structure out of complexity to guide teams toward clarity and action.
  • Strategic Orchestrator: Able to balance high-level business strategy with the technical details of software integration.
  • Executive Presence: Clear and effective communicator who can translate technical risks into business impact for senior leadership.

Location & Travel

  • Location: Dearborn, MI. This position is hybrid-friendly for candidates with a proven ability to deliver results in a flexible environment.
  • Travel Expectations: Occasional travel may be required to support system deployments or vendor onsite sessions.
  • Company: As Ford establishes a wholly owned subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, this role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year.
