Job Description

Do you enjoy bringing order to ambitious engineering challenges? Help shape the product roadmap behind the world’s first autonomous building platform.

About PassiveLogic®

PassiveLogic is building the first fully autonomous platform for buildings. We’re reinventing automation to make advanced technology more accessible, optimize building performance, and reduce the built environment’s carbon footprint.

Our team brings together engineers, technologists, designers, and creative thinkers who are passionate about solving complex, real-world problems. Backed by leading investors, we’re working to transform how buildings are designed, operated, and maintained.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Technical Product Manager with professional experience in buildings, HVAC, mechanical systems, building controls, or a closely related field.

In this role, you’ll create and maintain product roadmaps, translate building-domain needs into actionable engineering plans, and help multidisciplinary teams deliver high-quality products. You’ll balance long-term strategy with near-term releases, resolve technical and organizational roadblocks, and keep teams aligned around customer value.

This is an opportunity to play an important role in a rapidly scaling AI company working at the intersection of autonomous systems, energy, and the built environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead product strategy and engineering execution: Define and manage product roadmaps, structure complex initiatives into clear workstreams, and guide engineering teams toward development and release goals.
  • Apply your buildings and HVAC expertise: Use your understanding of building systems, HVAC, controls, energy, or building operations to inform product decisions, identify technical gaps, and help teams develop solutions grounded in real-world industry needs.
  • Remove roadblocks: Help teams move forward when technical complexity or incomplete information slows progress. Make thoughtful, data-informed decisions and maintain momentum in imperfect situations.
  • Translate between disciplines: Connect the needs of building-industry experts, customers, product teams, designers, and software engineers. Turn complex domain requirements into clear priorities, user stories, test cases, and deliverables.
  • Champion the user experience: Shape product roadmaps around intuitive, user-centered solutions for professionals working in the built environment while balancing design quality, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines.
  • Support design and validate fidelity: Partner with UI/UX and engineering teams to create clearly documented product designs and ensure delivered products remain faithful to the intended experience.
  • Create visibility and accountability: Communicate plans, goals, progress, dependencies, risks, and roadblocks to stakeholders. Produce reporting and planning materials that enable informed decisions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies: Stay informed about developments in building technology, HVAC, automation, energy modeling, software, and AI, and evaluate opportunities to incorporate new capabilities into our products.

What You’ll Bring

We value curiosity as much as experience. We’re looking for someone who understands the built environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and can turn technical needs into clear, actionable plans.

You must have

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program, product, or project management.
  • Professional experience with buildings, HVAC, mechanical systems, building automation, controls, energy modeling, or a closely related field.
  • A technical or engineering background, including a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience creating product roadmaps and leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering initiatives.
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to thrive, adapt, and take ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.

You should have

  • Experience successfully shipping technical products.
  • Experience translating customer and domain needs into requirements, user stories, test cases, and engineering workstreams.
  • A collaborative leadership style and experience working across engineering, UI/UX, sales, customer success, and company leadership.
  • A passion for human-centered design, sustainable buildings, and continual learning.

It’s helpful to have

  • Experience with building automation systems, HVAC controls, energy management systems, digital twins, or building operations.
  • Familiarity with building design or energy-modeling tools such as EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, IES VE, DesignBuilder, TRACE 3D Plus, Ladybug Tools, Sefaira, Autodesk Insight, or cove.tool.
  • Experience working with mechanical engineers, controls engineers, energy modelers, architects, facility operators, or building owners.
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative research to inform product decisions.
  • Experience as a project management leader.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive compensation
  • Generous equity package
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Disability and life insurance options
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Team-building events
  • Free catered lunch in the office Monday through Friday
  • Free ski pass—we’re located at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon
  • Free National Parks pass

When Applying, Please Include

  • A resume
  • A cover letter explaining why you’re interested in PassiveLogic and how your buildings or HVAC experience relates to this role
  • Extra mile: A brief description of a project you independently created, developed, built, managed, organized, or designed
