The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

Technical Support Engineer:
The main responsibility of the Technical Support Engineer is to support Technical Services, primarily the STARS lab, and its engineering, validation and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
Generate, execute and review validation protocols and associated reports for related Process & Software Validation Activities
Ensuring processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
Creation and updating of STARS documentation and Agile implementation
Provide Engineering support to CFT as appropriate
Manage introduction and validation of new STARS equipment on-site
Performing root cause analysis to resolve STARS / YSI issues and provide technical advice as needed
Service, troubleshoot and solve engineering problems with all STARS equipment already in operation
Support change requests to update Oracle database for both Donegal and Witney
Machine maintenance and part management
Identification of opportunities and Improvements on current manufacturing process & software
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once while adhering to project plans and timelines
Assist in providing Technical information for Non-Conformance reports relating to Manufacturing Process & Software
Ensure adherence to 6S in the Technical areas ensuring the department conducts its business in a manner designed to be productive and protective of human health, safety and the environment
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BEng) in a scientific, engineering, or related discipline.
Very strong mechanical knowledge and experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in engineering, manufacturing or quality assurance within a regulated industrial environment
Strong technical documentation, analytical, and communication skills
STARS and YSI knowledge would be advantageous
