EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As a Technical Operator, you’ll be part of a dynamic team, operating within our central region, across Telford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham Your role will be to produce drinking water to high quality standards for our customers, in the most cost efficient and safe manner.
You will work alongside a dedicated maintenance team, process team and Team Manager using control platforms such as SCADA and PRISM to operate the work.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake standby duties on a rota basis.
We’re big believers in training, learning, and development at Severn Trent. So as part of the role, you will undertake a Level 2 apprenticeship as part of your technical training. This training will take a minimum of 12 months, up to 15 months with 3 days a month in Coventry at our Academy.
As part of the training, we’ll also help you to achieve a Functional skills level 1 qualification if you’re not able to evidence your GCSE grades. There is lots of support available to complete this before you take your qualification, and you can have up to 12 months to get ready.
In addition to this, you will complete a portfolio of work that will be assessed at the end of your training, and you will also be assessed independently on site to demonstrate you are capable to carry out all of your role.
Depending on experience, the successful candidate may be required to complete a technical skills bootcamp, which will be delivered by our Academy.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Having experience working in a mechanical/electrical environment would be advantageous and working with chemical processes would be beneficial.
We’re looking for someone who is efficient, with excellent organisational, able to work well under pressure and capable of completing multiple job tasks.
We want someone who is confident in working unsupervised and within a team framework to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills are needed as well as the ability to analyse information to spot potential problems for improvement.
A full valid UK driving licence is required for the role.
