We are seeking a dedicated Technical Officer – Anatomy and Pathology to join our team within the Griffith Health on the Brisbane South (Nathan). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-quality anatomy and pathology teaching and research activities.

In this role, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of practical classes, supporting both staff and students while ensuring laboratories operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation and University standards. You will work closely with academic staff to enhance learning experiences and maintain teaching resources, including human specimens, with the utmost professionalism and respect.

As a valued member of our technical team, you will:

• Support the day-to-day operation of anatomy and pathology teaching laboratories, including preparation, setup, and pack-down of practical classes.
• Assist with specimen preparation, including embalming and preservation activities.
• Maintain laboratory spaces, preparation areas, and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition.
• Ensure all activities involving human cadaveric material are conducted with respect, dignity, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with academic staff to support teaching delivery and improve laboratory procedures and resources.
• Maintain stock levels, procure consumables, and manage equipment maintenance in line with University systems.
• Provide guidance to staff and students on the appropriate handling and use of anatomy specimens and laboratory equipment.
• Assist with physiology practical classes and general laboratory support activities.
• Contribute to special events such as Open Day, workshops, and community engagement activities.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, biohazard, and University policies and procedures.

About you

You are a reliable and detail-oriented technical professional who takes pride in supporting teaching and learning in a laboratory environment. You are comfortable working with biological materials and understand the importance of safety, compliance, and ethical practice.

You will bring:

• Relevant qualifications (Certificate or Diploma) and/or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience working with cadaveric material and a sound knowledge of human anatomy.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience in laboratory operations, including preparation of teaching materials and equipment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff, students, and colleagues.
• Experience using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
• A proactive, flexible, and team-focused approach.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, respect, and professionalism.

What we can offer

This is a fixed term (12 month),part-time (60% FTE) position based at the Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range

The full-time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 4 range $76,126 - $80,321 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $89,067 - $93,976 per annum.
