UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at our rural campuses across several locations. Delivery of the medicine program across UNSW Rural Clinical Campuses is primarily face-to-face - on campus, with staff being available and accessible daily. Students build strong relationships and become part of the local medical community, benefitting from more personal interaction with clinicians, other academics and professional staff. UNSW’s program has strongly supported the aims of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program delivering excellence in rural medical education and student experience end-to-end. The Technical Officer works closely with academic staff, laboratory demonstrators and students to provide high level quality technical support in teaching and research laboratories with a strong focus on WHS compliance and requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional to contribute to the delivery of high-quality rural teaching and research activities in a dynamic laboratory environment. You will play a key role in ensuring laboratories operate efficiently and safely while supporting practical learning and research outcomes. The position offers varied responsibilities, including equipment and compliance management, laboratory preparation, technical training, troubleshooting and inventory responsibility. Ideal candidates will bring strong biomedical sciences knowledge, excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively, providing expert technical support and helping create an outstanding laboratory experience for students, and supporting staff to deliver practical components of the course.
The role of Technical Officer reports to the Administrative Officer at the identified campus and has no direct reports.
