We are seeking a skilled and experienced Training Supervisor to develop, deliver, and manage training for mine operations personnel at the Mission Mine. This role ensures that equipment operators, frontline supervisors, and trainers are trained and qualified to a consistent standard that supports safety, regulatory compliance, and production. The Training Supervisor leads site training activities, supervises assigned trainers and subject matter experts (SMEs), and works with the Corporate Training Coordinator to implement the Company's standardized mine operations training program at Mission.

Responsibilities:

Training Program Delivery & Coordination:

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate training for mine operations positions, including haul trucks, shovels, loaders, drills, dozers, and motor graders, in line with production needs and staffing priorities.
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on training using the Company's standardized training content, adapting delivery to each trainee's experience level.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training (OJT) with operations supervision to secure equipment, seat time, and qualified trainers while minimizing impact on production.
  • Work with the Corporate Training Coordinator to implement standardized training content, OJT checklists, and operator evaluations at the site, and to document any approved site-specific variations.
  • Identify skills gaps and workforce needs by position and crew, and recommend training plans to meet qualified-operator targets.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and site input on new and revised training content, standard operating procedures, and reference materials.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and technology providers to incorporate equipment-specific training and best practices, including simulator-based training where available.

Trainer & Workforce Development:

  • Supervise, schedule, and direct the work of assigned trainers and SMEs.
  • Develop trainers' instructional, coaching, and evaluation skills, and verify that training is delivered to the approved standard.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to operators and frontline supervisors.
  • Support frontline supervisors in reinforcing trained standards and practices in the field.

Competency Evaluation & Recordkeeping:

  • Conduct operator competency evaluations using the Company's standardized evaluation forms and rating scale, and document results for qualification sign-off in accordance with Company and site procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready training records, including MSHA Form 5000-23, OJT hours, evaluations, and qualifications, in the Company's learning management or recordkeeping system.
  • Track and report training progress, qualified operators by position and crew, and upcoming refresher requirements to site leadership and the Corporate Training Coordinator.
  • Review training effectiveness using evaluation results, incident data, and operator performance, and recommend content improvements.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor operator performance in the field and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
  • Identify and address operating behaviors that compromise safety, equipment, or efficiency, and implement corrective or refresher training as needed.
  • Collaborate with mine managers, shift supervisors, dispatch, and maintenance to align training with operational needs.
  • Participate in short- and long-term operational planning discussions to ensure training plans support production and staffing objectives.

Safety, Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Ensure site training meets MSHA 30 CFR Part 48, Subpart B requirements, including new miner, newly employed experienced miner, task, hazard, and annual refresher training.
  • Actively contribute to the site safety team, promoting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct safety training on equipment operation, hazard recognition, emergency response procedures, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all training materials comply with Company standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for mine safety and operations.
  • Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps, recommending corrective action plans, and delivering resulting corrective training.
  • Responsible for executing, supporting and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety Program as required by OIS policy, directives and principles.
