We are looking for a Technical Manager – Traction Power Supply Systems – Rail Electrification (m/f/d)

You’ll make a difference by:

  • Delivering the end-to-end traction power supply system/subsystem within the specified time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Preparing preliminary and detailed electrical engineering drawings, including overview diagrams, single-line diagrams, layouts, BOQs, etc.
  • Conducting technical reviews and submitting designs for AC and DC traction power supply substations, auxiliary power supply systems, and emergency power supply systems (UPS and DC distribution systems) for traction power supply.
  • Conducting technical reviews and submitting technical specifications for electrical subsystems (HV/MV/LV equipment, including transformers, cables, etc.) within substations.
  • Coordinating technical and non-technical interfaces with collaborators such as project managers, suppliers, and other subsystems (e.g., signaling, civil, etc.) to ensure the integration of all electrical systems within substations.
  • Managing, planning, organizing, and controlling engineering work packages for traction substation design.
  • Controlling and reporting on projects or sub-projects to stakeholders.
  • Participating in contract management and project compliance processes for traction power supply systems.
  • Identifying and leading opportunities and risks within the project or sub-projects.
  • Providing technical support during the manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Leading technical deliverables with sales departments and project management during both the bid phase and the project realization phase.
  • Coordinating with functional managers in line-organization for vital support and provisioning.
  • Managing technical clarifications with domestic and international sub-suppliers.
  • Visiting domestic and international suppliers and project locations to witness equipment testing and attend stakeholder meetings.
  • Participating in technical liaison meetings with customers, suppliers, and Siemens’ internal departments globally.

You’ll win us over by:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a similar field, ideally in power distribution, electrical control systems, or traction power substation design.
  • Knowledge of high- and medium-voltage technology, with a good understanding of system design, manufacturing processes, installation, training, and testing and commissioning activities in electrical substations.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary and emergency power supply systems.
  • Knowledge of earthing and bonding systems for electrical substations.
  • Knowledge of measurement, control, and supervisory systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant European and international standards (IEC, IEEE, EN).
  • Knowledge of engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and technical management for electrical systems.
  • Experience in project realization, preferably in an international project environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in the railway sector, especially in railway electrification power supply systems.
  • Experience in the design and planning of electrical AC/DC substations.
  • Intercultural experience and strong English language skills.
  • German language skills (reading, writing, and speaking) will be an advantage.
