
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment.
You will be responsible for:
supervising the technician team (Lighting; Sound; Rigging & Stage; AV/IT) to ensure high performance and compliance with safety standards;
planning and managing preventive maintenance for the theatrical technical system and equipment, develop and implement plans for redundancy and emergency;
providing Technical and Productions Team (T&P) Duty In-Charge support as required;
maintaining accurate tracking and documentation of all technical equipment, monitor asset performance and plan upgrades or replacements to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime;
developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for technical systems and equipment to ensure operation consistency and efficiency, while ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and WKCDA’s standards;
identifying technical training needs, organizing and delivering regular and specialist training, staff inductions, as well as training assessments;
collaborating with event organizers to assess technical requirements and deliver effective solutions; establish procedures for gathering feedback from technical staff and production teams to drive continuous operational improvements;
assisting in creating and managing the technical budget for operations and events;
facilitating the continuous development of WKCDA's Performing Arts venues by overseeing renovation and upgrade projects, updating technical drawings;
maintaining a comprehensive understanding of industry trends and technological advancements to effectively enhance the capabilities of the venues; and
performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by the Authority
You should:
possess a recognized university degree, prefer in in performing arts, technical theatre arts, theatre management or equivalent;
possess at least 8 years of experience in technical and productions support for outdoor and indoor events;
be the specialist in at least one of these four categories: Lighting, Sound, Rigging & Stage, and AV/IT;
have solid experience and knowledge in managing back-of-house operations, performing arts productions, stage operation, lighting and sound production;
preferably have experience and knowledge in drawing preparation such as AutoCAD, Intergraph, 3D modelling and graphic design or equivalent;
have good supervisory skills and be knowledgeable in budgeting and production management; and
be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese.

Stretching across 40 hectares of reclaimed land, WestK is one of the largest cultural projects in the world, blending art, education and open space.
Its vision is to create a vibrant cultural quarter for Hong Kong where the local arts scene can interact, develop and collaborate. Providing 23 hectares of public open space with two kilometres of vibrant harbour-front promenade it will also include a variety of arts and cultural facilities that will produce and host world-class exhibitions, performances and arts and cultural events.
A Development Plan for the District, based on well-received Foster + Partner’s Conceptual Plan, was approved by the Chief Executive-in-Council in January 2013. Overlooking the magnificent Victoria Harbour, the District will begin to take shape over the next decade.
By developing this sizable project in phases we can start to bring the district to life. The Xiqu Centre, Freespace, Art Park, M+, Hong Kong Palace Museum and Lyric Theatre Complex, will be developed as a first batch of facilities aiming for opening to the public.
Although the whole project will take time to complete, we are already busy organising a wide range of cultural activities on site. Visit our website for details of upcoming events. The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District. Led by the Board and an executive team comprising experts from different sectors, our vision is to build a vibrant cultural quarter for the city, dedicated to bringing together local and international artists and audiences to be inspired and to celebrate the arts.
