Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a large technical team through projects, to develop and deploy state of the art process controls technologies including hardware and software engineering capabilities in support of early stage, pilot and high-volume manufacturing activities for new technology transfer, process improvement, cost reduction or capacity expansion.
  • Actively develop and partnership with technical leaders in developing PCS strategy to support execution of corporate priorities and all Corning business operations and growth across Asia.
  • Advance and maintain technical competencies in PCS by actively participating and leading control system architecture, hardware and software designs for process equipment, process/product prototyping, and factory automation.
  • Initiate and lead control solution projects as appropriate to support competency and capability development to advance operational competitive advantage and build pipeline of engineering talents.
  • Act as a leader to represent MTE organization in engagements with customers (mainly internal engineering and manufacturing teams) and vendors (technical engagement, capability evaluations, etc.) across Asia. Visit work sites of direct reports and engage key customers on employee performance and contributions in meeting project objectives and expectations. Provide help as appropriate.
  • Champion effective deployment of documented manufacturing control systems best practices on all department projects.
  • Be responsible for establishing trainings and development programs/processes to enhance team’s competencies, capabilities and skills in core technologies through project assignments, trainings, coaching, seminars and conferences.
  • Project assignments will involve traveling to China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and other regions per request.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Major in Automation Control, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, etc. At least master degree & above.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience leading highly technical, multi-discipline and multi-cultural engineering teams
  • Broad-based communication skills to interact with customers in all areas of the business and at all levels of the organization.
  • Broad-based vision and strategic thinking to work with cross-country businesses and lead team strategy
  • Strong ability to manage change and multiple priorities to deal with mixture of COE capability development and project activities.
  • Prior engineering experience with technical/project leadership responsibility for the design, development, and deployment of control system solutions for manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on experiences on control systems hardware and software such as
    • Logic and sequencing control using PLC (Mitsubishi, Siemens or Allen Bradley)
    • PC-Level programming languages (VB, C/C++, C#)
    • Industrial SCADA and DCS (e.g. GE iFiX, LabView).
    • Fundamental understanding of feedback control such as PID, motion controls and other advanced control algorithm and methodologies.
    • Fundamental understanding of AI(Artificial Intelligence) control such as machine learning, deep learning in manufacturing 4.0 application.
    • Understand and capable to integrate operation software technical system and measurement and inspection system.
