Technical Manager in the Department of Materials and Energy (Ref.: 537251) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the newly established Department of Materials and Energy, under the Faculty of Engineering, as a University initiative to foster dynamic and cross‑disciplinary activities. The overarching aim of the Department is to foster closed-loop interdisciplinary collaboration in materials science and engineering, with a strategic emphasis on energy materials and energy engineering.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is highly desirable. A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience is required, preferably including at least 3 years of experience in staff supervision and laboratory management. They must demonstrate strong proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin), together with excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and laboratory management skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, responsible and able to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and procedures, as well as experience working in a tertiary education institution, would be a definite advantage.
The appointee will lead the Technical Team in delivering high-quality technical support for the Department’s administrative, teaching and learning, and research activities.
