Technical Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our Athabasca OSB Division, located in  Slave Lake, Alberta.  This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America, giving us the ability to produce a diverse range of innovative products for customers around the world.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• Experience in leading the organization and supervision of technical aspects of process improvements, technology, research and development
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSB/EWP (Engineered Wood Products) manufacturing processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safety.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Strong statistical knowledge and computer literacy.
• Degree or diploma in Wood Science, Forestry, Engineering, or a related technical field.

In this role, you will:

• Lead with a strong focus on safety
• Serve as an active member of both the site Leadership Team and the Tolko Product Quality & Technical Group
• Provide feedback and support to our Process Specialists/Engineers .
• Assist in the development and improvement of products and processes
• Works with the Product Quality & Technical Group on the deployment, ongoing execution, and continuous improvement of the Tolko Quality Management System (TQM 9000) at site.
• Lead and resolve quality issues within areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with production goals and safety standards.
• Investigate site related customer claims & complaints and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay on top of new industry developments and standards in technology and customer satisfaction in order to recommend, plan, and organize actions that will keep the mill current.
• Interact with our Sales and Production teams and keep the product cost model current.
• Use your knowledge of code requirements, third-party testing agencies and experience in statistical process control to plan, organize and implement resin or mill trials

• You'll earn an additional  northern allowance on top of your base pay.
