What you will do:

Lead and coordinate engineering maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. You will manage engineering resources and contractors, drive continuous improvement, diagnose and resolve complex equipment faults, and ensure all maintenance work is completed to the highest safety, quality, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate engineering craft teams and contractors to support manufacturing and site operations.
  • Plan and allocate engineering resources, labour, materials, and maintenance activities to meet operational requirements.
  • Carry out and oversee preventative maintenance, fault finding, inspections, and emergency repairs on plant and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, legal, and company standards, including permit-to-work systems.
  • Provide technical expertise to diagnose complex equipment issues and minimise operational downtime.
  • Monitor engineering performance, costs, and contractor activities to achieve quality, efficiency, and budget targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance plant reliability, maintenance practices, and operational performance.
  • Support the development and training of engineering and production teams, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
  • Conduct failure analysis and recommend improvements to equipment, processes, and maintenance systems.
  • Act as lead for the shift engineering team when the Shift Coordinator is unavailable.

What you will need:

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, significant hands-on maintenance experience, and the ability to lead teams safely and effectively within a manufacturing environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Engineering Craftsperson (typically HNC level) or Graduate Engineer.
  • Several years' experience in an engineering maintenance or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of engineering principles and maintenance practices within the relevant discipline.
  • Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and support complex plant and equipment issues.
  • Experience supervising and coordinating personnel to ensure engineering work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety requirements within an industrial setting.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, make sound technical decisions, and support operational performance objectives.
