Job Description

As part of the Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology Team, the Rotor Repair Technical Leader is responsible for providing technical leadership for the Rotor New Repair Introduction (NRI) team, reporting to the AMRT NRI Rotor Leader. In this role you will lead a global team of engineers, coordinating technical support of repair NPI and Supply Chain Development programs as well as industrialized repair activities across the global shop network.

The Rotor Repair Technical Leader will support the development, industrialization, and qualification of Rotor Life Extension activities across the global shop network. You will lead initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business regarding Rotor repair quality, cost, and cycle. Additionally you will be responsible for the team’s prioritization of assignments as well as the development of your team’s technical depth and collaborative skills.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities (Internal)

  • Provide technical leadership for a global team of global for all aspects of Rotor inspection & repair processes
  • Technical responsibility for all GE Vernova heavy-duty gas turbine rotor repairs including Rotor Life Extension, Supply Chain Development, and SQDC process improvement projects
  • Manage team prioritization of complex assignments with long-term business implications, contributing to the overall business strategy
  • Drive standard work across global team through lean practices utilizing lean roadmaps, value stream mapping, and standard work development while supporting process improvement and continuous problem solving.
  • Create long and short-term Rotor component productivity strategies that take into account P&E planning, industry trends, shop environments, field issues and customer needs
  • Work collaboratively with RVS Leadership, Gas Turbine Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Line and Customer Service Engineering to establish repair strategies, support design reviews, and address fleet issues.
  • Provide the appropriate level of communication with GE Gas Power management on program progress, challenges, and accomplishments.
  • Maintain a culture of safety, integrity, compliance, and engineering discipline.
  • Understand, model and communicate the AMRT culture and seek ways to integrate it into the broader GE Vernova culture. Assist in developing an inspirational leadership organization that coaches team members in building trusting relationships
  • Lead and inspire the search for high impact engineering projects for your team
  • Mentor your team through the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Ensure the documentation of technical data generated by the team is consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Acts as our technical or domain resource for others in the organization and our customers, often creating and providing training for interfacing groups
  • Make personal and team learning a priority
  • Travel to repair centers, customer sites, and other locations as needed globally (up to 20%)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field of study from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in, with, and/or supporting a gas turbine rotor manufacturing, services, repair, or design environment

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Strong mechanical design and analytical background with familiarity in manufacturing processes
  • Experience in Gas Turbine Combustion manufacture, design, or repair
  • Lean training or equivalent quality training
  • Ability and established track record to drive projects to completion
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
