Job Description Summary
As a Technical Leader – Mechanical Component, you will lead the technical execution of design engineering work for Hot Gas Path rotating components. The role owns delivery across New Product Introduction (NPI), Pivot to Value (P2V), Multi-Year Agreement (MYA), Fleet, Repair support, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), ensuring solutions meet expectations for safety, quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule. This role also requires close integration of Aeromechanics considerations into component design and structural integrity assessment. You will provide technical leadership to a team in a matrixed environment and work closely with cross-functional organizations to deliver robust outcomes for both internal and end customers.
You will serve as the technical focal for assigned component programs and guide a team of mechanical design engineers through planning, execution, technical reviews, and closure of deliverables. The role spans the broader engineering lifecycle, including design release, product definition, manufacturing support, assembly, testing, repair-related work, and implementation support. Delivering on this scope requires close collaboration with interfacing teams across Aero, Thermal, Reliability, Manufacturing, Repair, Services, Design Liaison Engineering (DLE), and Systems. In this role, you will lead or contribute to technical reviews with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs) and proactively inform internal customers on decisions.
Lead assigned programs end-to-end, owning execution, coordination, and delivery across the engineering lifecycle of the component. Maintain rigor and responsiveness while managing safety, quality, cost, and technical risk.
Apply strong mechanical engineering fundamentals within an integrated decision framework to evaluate design options and trade-offs across structural integrity, life, reliability, interfaces, safety, manufacturability, and other relevant design considerations. Turn technical inputs and risks into clear, evidence-based recommendations that enable robust component decisions.
Provide day-to-day technical direction to a team, setting clear priorities and quality expectations for deliverables. Build team capability through coaching, feedback, and reinforcement of sound engineering practices.
Build effective working relationships across functions to enable aligned decisions and integrated execution. Engage stakeholders early and communicate technical concerns clearly to manage downstream impacts.
Approach problems with structure and discipline, driving practical improvements that make engineering work simpler, faster, and more effective. Support the adoption of modern tools and methods to strengthen execution over time.
