Job Description

The role is within the Fuels and Digital Engineering organization’s Methods, Analysis, and Design (MAD) team. This team is responsible for driving the development of non-BWR fuel and core design opportunities while collaborating across engineering, product management, and production engineering organizations to identify and mature new offerings for the BWR fleet.

A Technical leader on this team is responsible for the leading said development efforts. This includes the identification of the right opportunities, the technical mentoring of team members, and the planning and execution of such work scope. This role will be inherently multi-discipline due to all the fields related to core and fuel design: neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, transient analyses, thermal-mechanical design.

Essential:

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic vision for reactor core and fuel design efforts.
  • Own the development, implementation, and tracking of technical work plans; partner with the functional manager to ensure these plans align with team capacity and business objectives, driving task decomposition and critical path management.
  • Accountable for the technical integrity and procedural compliance of completed work packages; conduct or delegate reviews to ensure engineer/verifier qualifications, design applicability, verification independence, and compliance with all quality/regulatory reviews (e.g., export control, configuration management).
  • Coordinate across a matrix of senior technical expertise; collaborate with Principal Engineers and other subject matter experts to drive complex design decisions and mentor the broader team, while maintaining ownership of the final execution plan.
  • Build and maintain relationships with teams and commercial leaders within the broader Engineering organization to understand upcoming work demands and provide inputs on team capability and availability.
  • Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement by managing multiple priorities and ensuring work plans are aligned with defined objectives.
  • Drive a team culture based on integrity, safety, and quality; foster transparency and execution on commitments by providing constructive coaching feedback.
  • Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions.
  • Support the interface with various regulatory agencies (NRC, DOE, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
  • Advocate for and lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in aSTEM-related field: nuclear engineering, physics, mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline.

  • Six or more years of cumulative engineering experience.

Desired Characteristics:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in nuclear or mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Prior experience working on nuclear reactor core and/or fuel designs, preferably related to Boiling Water Reactors.

  • Experience with project management tools and schedule development.

  • Experience with team leadership, project management, and resource allocation.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of nuclear reactor core licensing, technical specifications, safety margin bases, code methodology licensing, and related federal regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance high-fidelity technical rigor with project delivery timelines.

  • Experience navigating the intersection of nuclear quality assurance procedures and product development cycles.

  • Proven experience in cross-discipline technical leadership.

  • Extensive knowledge of the fundamental principles of nuclear engineering such as nuclear physics, thermal-hydraulics, and/or thermal-mechanics.

  • Experience with coding and code development.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
