As a Technical Lead Vehicle & Domain Systems – Functional Safety, you will take full technical ownership of Functional Safety for Domain ECUs and distributed vehicle systems.
Working across Electrical Engineering, Software, and Vehicle Integration teams, you will ensure that safety is seamlessly integrated into system architecture and execution, enabling world-class performance aligned with ISO 26262.

Where you’ll make an impact

  • Lead Functional Safety execution and technical ownership for Domain ECUs and distributed systems.
  • Own end-to-end Functional Safety delivery for Domain Controllers, including system, hardware, and software integration.
  • Translate vehicle-level Functional Safety requirements into Domain ECU architectures and technical solutions.
  • Define and manage Domain-level safety requirements, interfaces, assumptions, and safety mechanisms.
  • Drive integration of safety into ECU architecture (diagnostics, fault handling, degraded modes).
  • Align with central Functional Safety leadership and vehicle-level safety strategy.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across SW, HW, systems, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Coordinate safety verification and validation activities at ECU level.
  • Supervise Domain-level KPIs (releases, safety deliverables, integration status, issue resolution).
  • Support issue investigation and resolution (pre- and post-SOP), including root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to vehicle-level Functional Safety concepts and requirements (FSRs).
  • Ensure audit-ready documentation and ISO 26262 compliance at Domain level.

What are your core components

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Proven experience in Functional Safety engineering within ECU, Domain Controller, or distributed E/E architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 across system, hardware, and software domains.
  • Experience delivering Functional Safety for complex ECUs or Domain-based architectures.
  • Solid technical background in Systems Engineering, Electronics, or Embedded Software.
  • Experience working in cross-functional automotive development teams.
  • Ability to translate high-level safety goals into implementable technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills across Domain–Vehicle interface boundaries.
  • Structured problem-solving mindset and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical topics within demanding program timelines.
  • Strong experience with requirements tools (DOORS, Polarion, Jama or similar).

Nice to have ones

  • Experience with ASPICE and safety process integration.
  • Background in high-performance EV or hybrid vehicle platforms.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication networks (CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Experience with diagnostics and fault management strategies

Salary range: €55 000 – €72 500 gross per year (depending on experience)
