About the Role
SolarEdge is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Lead - Power Electronics Design Review (DR) Engineer to join the Quality & Reliability (QnR) organization.
In this role, you will serve as a technical assessor responsible for reviewing new power electronics designs throughout the product development cycle. Working closely with R&D, System Engineering, Hardware, Mechanical, Reliability, and Operations teams, you will independently analyze, calculate, simulate, and verify design robustness, ensuring products meet performance, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements before release to production.The review will mainly include a high reliability and quality power electronic systems.
The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Power converter design experience with strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive Design reviews (DRs) for new SolarEdge products and technologies.
- Review power electronics architectures from concept stage through production release.
- Independently analyze and verify converter topologies, power stages, control loops, protection mechanisms, and overall system performance.
- Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to validate design assumptions and identify technical risks.
- Evaluate thermal design, component derating, power dissipation, cooling solutions, and long-term reliability.
- Review magnetic component designs, including transformers, inductors, and current sensing elements.
- Analyze EMC/EMI performance and filtering solutions.
- Assess PCB layouts for electrical performance, creepage and clearance, manufacturability, reliability, and signal integrity.
- Review processor-based designs, embedded hardware interfaces, and communication protocols.
- Identify design weaknesses, reliability concerns, production risks, and field failure risks.
- Issue detailed Design Review reports that document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Present review results to QnR, R&D, and management teams.
- Drive technical discussions and challenge design assumptions through fact-based engineering analysis.
- Support root-cause investigations and provide technical guidance on reliability and quality issues when required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the development process.
Requirements
- Masters ( M.Tech / M.S ) in Power Electronics or Related Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- 10+ years of proven experience in power electronics design and development.
- Extensive experience taking products from concept and design stages through validation and mass production.
- Deep understanding of DC/DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and switched-mode power supplies.
- Good knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience with power semiconductor technologies including MOSFETs, IGBTs, and SiC devices.
- Strong experience in magnetic design, including transformer and inductor calculations.
- Solid understanding of EMI/EMC design practices and filter design.
- Experience with simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, Simplis, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs, processors, and embedded hardware architectures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate findings effectively to engineers, managers, and executive stakeholders.
Optional Requirements ( Preferred )
- Review of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for functionality, robustness, and reliability.
- Strong expertise in thermal design and thermal analysis.
- Experience with industry communication protocols such as CAN, RS485, SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet, and similar.
- Experience in solar, renewable energy, energy storage, EV, UPS, or industrial power conversion products.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering methodologies, failure analysis techniques, and design-for-reliability principles.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards applicable to power electronics products.
- Experience conducting formal design reviews in multidisciplinary development environments.
