Job Description

PACCAR India is seeking an experienced Technical Lead, Engineering to join our dynamic team in Pune. In this role, you will lead the design and development of Cab & Hood systems, including cab structures, interior and exterior trim, hood systems, closures, chassis-mounted components, and associated brackets throughout the product development lifecycle.

As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges while guiding the development of robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective products. Leveraging your expertise in Creo Parametric, sheet metal and plastic part design, vehicle packaging, GD&T, and manufacturing processes, you will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive successful program execution from concept through production release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Lead the conceptualization and design of Cab Interior and Exterior components, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Work on customer option-based models & drawing with the use of Creo Family Table pro level.
  • Develop robust sheet‑metal & plastic part designs with a strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOM creation, with adherence to engineering standards.
  • Review and guide the creation of CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Perform packaging, tool clearance analysis and apply ergonomics principles, evaluations in designs.
  • Work and support on development of large assemblies, including effective use of simplified representations and configuration management techniques.
  • Collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment, manufacturability, and successful program execution.

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience in cost reduction initiatives, value engineering, localization, and implementation of productivity improvements is an added advantage.
  • Creo, Sheetmetal, Plastic & Creo Simulation – an added advantage.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive.

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

  • 8–12 years of hands‑on experience in Mechanical engineering.
  • Review, approve, and guide the creation of CAD models, manufacturing drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and engineering release documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric & Family Table and Windchill.
  • Solid understanding of sheet‑metal, Plastic, Basic Casting design and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with truck systems and components.
  • Ability to manage and design large assemblies efficiently.
  • Experience in tool clearance, reliability, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Lead design reviews and collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
