How you succeed

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to join our Global Market Equity IT Engineering department at OCBC Securities Pvt Ltd (OSPL). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading the technical delivery of key projects, including the Channel Program, GWP Hong Kong implementation, and other strategic initiatives focused on the Equity Back office Application and margin migration systems.

As the Technical Lead, you will oversee the full technical lifecycle of projects, from requirements gathering and design through implementation, testing, and post-deployment support. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, project managers, finance, risk, operations, and trading desks to ensure successful project delivery aligned with business goals.

What you do

  • Lead and mentor the technical team in the planning, design, development, and execution of the Channel Program, GWP Hong Kong implementation, and other critical projects within the Equity Backoffice domain.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Business Solutions, Project Managers, Finance, Risk, Operations, and Dealers to gather detailed requirements, define project scope, and establish clear technical objectives.

  • Architect, develop, and implement robust technical strategies and solutions to facilitate smooth migration processes and system integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to developers, QA engineers, and support teams throughout the project lifecycle, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Conduct regular technical review meetings, progress updates, and risk assessments; communicate project status, challenges, and resolutions effectively to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Identify potential technical risks and issues proactively; develop mitigation plans to address challenges and ensure timely resolution.

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet established timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards, adhering to organizational governance and compliance requirements.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to margin systems, equity trading platforms, and financial technology to continuously enhance system capabilities.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of margin systems and related applications.

  • Lead technical support efforts during User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production cutover, and post-migration activities to ensure system stability and performance.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.

  • Minimum 12+ years of hands-on experience in Global Wealth and Equity Trading application development and delivery, with deep understanding of trade lifecycle processes in equity markets.

  • Proven track record as a Technical Lead or similar role managing margin migration projects or complex financial technology implementations.

  • Strong knowledge of financial market products, order management workflows, and equity trading systems.

  • In-depth expertise in Security House systems, margin systems, and related processes and technologies.

  • Experience supporting and integrating applications on Windows and Unix platforms, with proficiency in Oracle databases.

  • Advanced programming and scripting skills including:

    • Python

    • Unix Shell Scripting

    • Control-M Scheduler

    • Crystal Reports

    • PL/SQL and SQL (Oracle and SQL Server)

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices such as JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, JUnit, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive, independent, and “can-do” attitude.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence both technical and business audiences.

  • Preferable knowledge of GWP (Global Wealth Platform), Order Management Systems, and Control-M scheduling tools.
