Job Description

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Technical Graphics Technician to support our engineering practice in Chicago and Oak Brook, Illinois. This position is within our engineering design teams, which are involved in a variety of private and public sector projects. Project deliverables require use of CAD and ESRI software to create figures depicting sample locations, soil classifications, groundwater potentiometric surface, wetland boundaries, and other features. Features used on the figures may be Client-provided or from GZA’s field data collection maps and require the candidate to export of georeferenced files for Client or other end user. Deliverables are required to meet GZA internal standards as well as IDOT or other Client-identified requirements. The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated individual who possesses the ability to multi-task, work with a team of diverse engineers, geologists, biologists, and technicians, adhere to project deadlines, and demonstrates a good work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing complete plan set from marked-up plans and/or verbal instructions within a project team.
  • Providing support in the form of volume calculations, contour plans, cross sections and subsurface profiles and site grading.
  • Preparing detailed and accurate documentation and data analysis.
  • Performing technical execution of projects under the supervision of project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher in Engineering Design or Technical/Vocational certification.
  • 5+ years’ experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ESRI software.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Professional attitude and self-motivation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction, work independently or in a team.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday and availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with IDOT standards is a plus.

The base salary for this position may range between $60,000.00 to $72,000.00. The actual base salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
