Scorewarrior is a game developer and publisher based in Limassol, Cyprus. The company focuses on the 4X strategy genre, with an ambitious goal to grow its hit game, Total Battle, to become the No.1 strategy game in the world. Our team consists of 200+ passionate, talented, self-driven, and continually developing professionals who love making high-quality games.

We are looking for a Technical Game Designer to join our Old Players team

In this role, you will be responsible for configuring and maintaining complex game features, primarily live-ops systems, events, and long-lived mechanics for our most experienced players. The role is focused on data-driven configuration, balance implementation, automation, and reliability of game systems, rather than engine-level or visual scripting work.

You will work closely with game designers, analysts, and QA to ensure that features are correctly configured, scalable, and safe to operate in a live environment.

Tasks

  • Configure game features, events, and live-ops mechanics in the database based on design and balance requirements

  • Translate balance logic and progression rules into numerical configurations

  • Optimize and automate configuration workflows using scripts (most commonly Python)

  • Participate in designing configuration formats for new features at the early design stage

  • Perform self-checks of configured features in the game and prepare testing requirements for QA

  • Support refactoring of existing configuration tables to improve reliability and scalability

  • On senior level, own and improve shared configuration and validation processes

Job requirements

  • Strong experience working with Google Sheets / Excel, including formulas and structured calculations

  • Experience working with SQL

  • Understanding of game systems, progression, and balance logic

  • Ability to work with large sets of numerical data accurately and systematically

  • Attention to detail and strong analytical thinking

  • Readiness to work with configuration as a core, long-term responsibility

  • Ability to collaborate closely with designers, analysts, and QA

The following would also be to your advantage

  • Experience with scripting or automation (Python or similar)

  • Experience working with version control systems (git or equivalents)

  • Experience configuring live-ops features, events, or in-game offers

  • Understanding of F2P economy, progression systems, and long-lived player segments

  • Experience improving or refactoring existing data structures or workflows

About Scorewarrior

Our company was founded in 2015 in Cyprus with the initial goal of publishing and operating third-party games.

In 2016 we decided that we wanted to work with our own games instead of ready-made products. We were excited by the idea of being a full-cycle game development studio: to launch a game, gain initial traction, and then scale up the game globally and become a leader in the genre.

2017 saw the arrival of our first game, Total Battle. We discovered the game in its very early stages, and we believed in its great potential, so we made it our goal to focus on this single title and become the leader in the 4X strategy genre.

In 2021, we began to transform the company into a full-cycle game development studio, adding game developers, designers, and artists to our already existing publishing team, which consisted of our finance, legal, marketing, community, and support staff. We finished this process in 2022, and we now operate from our two offices in Limassol.
