Job Description

Our capability allows us to offer turnkey solutions for complex projects and spans every project phase, from design and manufacture to through-life-support, condition monitoring and data analytics, to fleet maintenance, operations, and comprehensive overhaul of assets.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Fleet Manager to lead the reliability, performance and technical operational support governance of the NSW TLS passenger fleets (Waratah, SGT and Millennium). You will lead a team of Technical Fleet Specialist’s and Fleet Operations Support Officers.

This role will report directly to the National Manager – Fleet Technical Support.

Based at our Auburn Maintenance Centre, this role provides senior technical leadership across fleet operations, ensuring safe, compliant and highly reliable rollingstock outcomes while driving continuous improvement in performance and profitability.

The position plays a critical role in aligning local fleet technical activity with National Integrated Operations Centre (NIOC) frameworks and broader TLS engineering standards across states. It acts as the key interface between TLS Operations, Engineering streams (Downer RTS) and associated support functions.

Experience & qualifications:

  • Mechanical, Electrical Tertiary Engineering qualification or equivalent combination of trade qualification and extensive industry experience.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in rolling stock design, build and / or maintenance.
  • Preferable 10 years’ experience in rolling stock design, build, test and commissioning and / or maintenance environment.
  • Experience in the maintenance of complex electrical and mechanical systems, the use of PC based fault diagnostic tools, and implementation of reliability programs in a rolling stock, asset management or heavy maintenance industry.
  • Experience dealing with customers on fleet performance & reliability matters.
