Technical Field Advisor I, Commissioning

The Commissioning Technical Field Advisor (TFA) supports commissioning activities for Mitsubishi gas and steam turbines under the direction of the site Commissioning Lead. This role executes mechanical commissioning, testing, inspection, and startup activities for turbine systems and auxiliary equipment, contributing to safe and reliable plant operations. The position is suited for early-career professionals with foundational power generation experience, providing hands-on exposure to plant startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning processes in global project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning tasks for gas and steam turbines and auxiliary systems under direction of Commissioning Lead or Senior TFA.
  • Perform startup, operation, and troubleshooting of large frame gas and steam turbine systems.
  • Read and interpret process diagrams, functional diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee installation verification, testing, pipe flushing, and system inspection activities.
  • Support operator training prior to commercial plant operation.
  • Apply thermodynamic principles to support commissioning and plant performance activities.
  • Complete commissioning documentation including test records, certificates, and turnover packages.
  • Inspect systems, identify non-conformances, and communicate findings to site leadership and engineering teams.
  • Support resolution of technical issues and interface with design engineering as required.
  • Complete training logs and participate in ongoing technical development and certification programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 0–5 years of experience in power generation, commissioning, construction, or industrial operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of power systems, thermodynamics, and turbine or energy conversion technologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and analyze mechanical or system-related issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic analytical tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 90% domestically and internationally to remote work sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required.
  • Multilingual capability (Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese) is a plus.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments including heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
