We specialise in delivering comprehensive and tailored solutions for the mining industry. Our team manages and executes large-scale capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety and leave a lasting positive legacy in the communities we engage with.

What you’ll do:

At WSP, we're shaping the future of mining through technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration. As our Mining & Metals business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Technical Executive to provide technical leadership, governance, and strategic direction across a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Reporting to the National Engineering Executive, you will provide technical stewardship and leadership to a team of engineers, specialists, and technologists while championing best practice engineering outcomes across the discipline. You'll play a key role in establishing and maintaining frameworks, standards, and processes that promote technical excellence, innovation, and consistent project delivery.

Leadership & People

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineering professionals.
• Drive succession planning, talent development, and capability growth within your discipline.
• Foster a culture built on collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Support performance management, career development, and technical competency growth.
• Champion health, safety, wellbeing, and employee engagement across the team.

Technical Excellence

• Provide technical leadership and governance across your discipline.
• Ensure consistent application of engineering standards, quality processes, and best practices.
• Drive innovation and continual improvement of technical systems, templates, methodologies, and delivery frameworks.
• Support project teams through technical guidance, review, and quality assurance.
• Promote knowledge sharing and technical collaboration across the broader WSP network.

Client & Industry Growth

• Develop strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
• Understand client challenges and position WSP to deliver innovative solutions.
• Represent WSP at industry events and within professional networks.
• Support a OneWSP approach by connecting clients with capabilities across the wider business.

Business Growth & Project Delivery

• Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic pursuits.
• Provide discipline input into engineering estimates and bid strategies.
• Support resource planning and forecasting across multiple projects.
• Drive safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
• Identify and mitigate project and delivery risks before they impact outcomes.

About you:

You're an established technical leader with a reputation for engineering excellence, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.

You will bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng) or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain chartership.
• Approximately 18+ years' experience within mining, resources, infrastructure, or heavy industry sectors.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and technical disciplines.
• Strong consulting, client engagement, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience in project delivery, risk management, quality assurance, and engineering governance.
• Strategic thinking capability with a track record of driving growth and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
