Job Description

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? If you enjoy solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and supporting technology that improves patient care, this could be the right fit for you.

We’re looking for a Technical Engineer to join Sectra, helping hospitals and health systems implement and maintain our PACS and Enterprise Imaging solutions. This role combines hands-on deployment with ongoing technical support, giving you the opportunity to work with customers from implementation and go-live through upgrades, troubleshooting, and optimization.

As part of a collaborative team, you’ll develop your skills across both deployment and support, helping keep customer systems reliable, efficient, and ready to support patient care.

In this role, you will:

  • Deploy, configure, test, upgrade, and maintain Sectra’s PACS and Enterprise Imaging solutions, including application servers, databases, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for customer environments, troubleshooting issues that affect system performance, availability, and clinical workflows.
  • Investigate complex technical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
  • Configure and troubleshoot connections with modalities and third-party systems, including EMRs, dictation systems, and AI platforms, in collaboration with integration specialists as needed.
  • Work closely with project managers, application specialists, engineering colleagues, and customer IT teams to support successful implementations and resolve production issues.
  • Support data migration and validation activities during implementations, upgrades, and system transitions.
  • Communicate technical findings, next steps, and progress clearly to customers and colleagues.
  • Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and solutions, contributing to shared knowledge and consistent technical practices.
  • Share knowledge and provide technical training to customers and colleagues as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts that strengthen deployment processes, support delivery, and the customer experience.
  • Occasionally work outside standard business hours to support go-lives, planned maintenance, or urgent customer needs.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, up to 25%.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have 5–10 years of experience deploying, administering, or supporting complex enterprise software systems, ideally within healthcare IT or medical imaging.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent technical experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of PACS, DICOM, and the infrastructure and workflows that support medical imaging environments.
  • Have experience with Windows Server, virtualized or cloud environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure, and networking concepts including DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and routing.
  • Be comfortable installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting enterprise applications.
  • Have working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL and basic scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Approach troubleshooting methodically, with attention to system reliability, data integrity, and the impact on customer operations.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical audiences and take ownership of issues through resolution.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing project work with customer support priorities.
  • Enjoy collaborating, learning new technologies, and building skills across deployment and support.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Hands-on experience deploying or administering PACS, RIS, or VNA solutions.
  • Familiarity with HL7 and other healthcare integration technologies.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure or hybrid deployment models.
  • Understanding of security practices such as encryption, certificates, and authentication.
  • Experience with data migrations, disaster recovery, or performance optimization.
  • Exposure to Linux-based servers or containerized environments.
  • Experience delivering technical training or mentoring colleagues.

Why this role?

  • Your work will support the systems clinicians rely on to deliver patient care.
  • You’ll build broad technical experience across implementation, production support, and ongoing system improvement.
  • You’ll work closely with customers and colleagues to solve complex challenges in healthcare IT.
  • You’ll have opportunities to grow toward senior engineering, technical specialist, or leadership roles.
