Join Our Team as a Technical Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Engineer to join our Technical team in New Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with experience in the electrical industry to contribute to product development, quality assurance, technical support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

As a Technical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting cable design, maintaining technical systems, ensuring product compliance, and providing technical expertise to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Cable Design & Technical Data Management

  • Develop new cable designs using specialised design software.
  • Calculate technical specifications and maintain accurate product data.
  • Create and update technical data sheets and design documentation.
  • Generate outsourcing specifications for cable products.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance to sales teams during tender submissions and customer engagements.
  • Support customers and internal stakeholders with product and engineering information.
  • Assist in identifying and developing solutions for new business opportunities.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct product audits and benchmarking activities.
  • Support quality control systems for manufactured and sourced products.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company procedures.

Process Improvement

  • Maintain engineering databases and technical systems.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and technical projects.
  • Support the implementation of process and product enhancements.

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Comply with company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous safety improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification, diploma, or trade qualification in an engineering or electrical discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the electrical industry.
  • Experience in technical support, product engineering, or a related engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
