The Technical Editor ensures the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of published content by applying established editing standards across a variety of documents. With guidance from the Administrative Project Manager and the broader technical editing team, this role supports continuous improvement in editorial processes and contributes to strategic content initiatives. The Technical Editor collaborates with cross-functional partners to meet production deadlines and uphold organizational quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
Copy edit, proofread, and format environmental resource reports, proposals, résumés, and other various internal documents
Participate in (at minimum) weekly meetings with the editing team to review the Document Assignment Record to receive tasks, collaborate on workloads, troubleshoot issues, and provide individual expertise as necessary
Participate in monthly internal team quality assurance and quality control meetings
Participate in monthly internal team continuing education sessions
Participate in annual Eocene Style Guide audit and résumé updates
Report directly to the administrative project manager for editorial progress, performance feedback, and weekly workload/schedule management
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in English or communication-oriented area of study
1–2 years of relevant experience in an editing role or related field
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for editing, reviewing, and formatting documents
Exceptional understanding of grammar
Effective communication with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical
Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in environmental consulting or similar industry
Strong knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, to create and format professional documents and layouts
Ability to actively listen and ask questions to obtain better understanding of information and tasks
Strong desire to address challenges proactively, build positive rapport with the team, and adapt to a dynamic, growing environment while maintaining flexibility and resilience in response to change
