Job Description

Req ID 85736 | Lommel, Belgium, ZF Wind Power Antwerpen NV

About the team

Shape the future of renewable energy with us!

ZF Wind Power is one of the world’s leading providers of wind turbine gearboxes and is currently being established as an independent entity within the ZF Group – with the clear goal of responding even more effectively to market and customer needs while enabling further growth. This step increases entrepreneurial flexibility and strengthens our role as a global technology leader in wind energy.

We have the world’s largest installed capacity of +8 MW offshore wind turbine gearboxes. Since entering the wind industry in 1979, we have delivered more than 85,000 gearboxes, powering over 200 GW wind turbines, covering more than 25% of the total installed capacity of geared-driven wind turbines worldwide. Together with our partners, we continuously invest in the wind market to empower a sustainable future together.

Because ZF Wind Power keeps on growing, we are looking for a Technical Design & Simulation Engineer, to join our R&D team in our headquarters in Lommel

At the Test and Prototype Centre (TPC) we turn theory into reality. We conduct testing from the smallest component level all the way up to fully assembled prototypes — always within their real world environment. All essential preparations happen in house: from developing tailored validation plans and implementing advanced measurement systems, to building prototypes and designing specialized tooling and test setups. Our motivated, multidisciplinary team — spread across four locations in Europe and Asia — brings together deep expertise, hands on mindset and a passion for innovation. Together, we ensure that every idea is tested, validated, and ready for the future.

What you can look forward to as a Technical Design & Simulation Engineer:

  • Design and develop test rig components, systems, tooling, no load test setups and prototype fixtures, including 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and all related documentation
  • Review, coach and support other engineers in concept creation, detailed design, CAD quality and documentation, while maintaining clear communication with internal stakeholders
  • Perform and evaluate calculations (analytical and FEM), conduct model quality checks, define calculation plans and release calculation reports
  • Monitor processes and planning, follow up new assignments, apply standards and change management, and collaborate with suppliers to achieve cost efficient solutions
  • Share knowledge and drive best practice development, update design handbooks, provide training, join competence teams and act as an expert within the global organization

Your profile as Technical Design & Simulation Engineer:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar with at least 10years of work experience
  • Advanced mechanical design expertise, including 3D modelling (Creo), 2D drawings, and PLM documentation management (Windchill), knowledge of machine guide and euro-code
  • Strong analytical & calculation capabilities, covering both analytical methods and FEM tools (e.g., ANSYS, KISSsoft), including model validation and reporting
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes, with solid understanding of mechanical components, DFMEA, tolerance stacks, and industrial standards.
  • CAN DO attitude who takes initiatives and is dedicated to realize the set goals
  • Strong in problem solving and good communication skills, fluent in English
