Job Description

Interested in a career that matters?

Are you ready to use your production knowledge and technical expertise to help a manufacturing operation perform safely, reliably, and efficiently?

As a Technical Coordinator at our Blair production site, you will connect operations, engineering, maintenance, and technical projects to improve product flow and equipment reliability. You will work closely with production teams to solve technical challenges, strengthen process and equipment knowledge, and build operator capabilities through training, coaching, and clear procedures.

The role & your impact

In this role, you will serve as a hands-on technical resource for production equipment, processes, and operating systems. You will help coordinate maintenance and technical activities, troubleshoot operating issues, support projects and trials, and ensure that employees have the knowledge and documentation needed to operate equipment safely and effectively.

Your key responsibilities in this role

  • Support safe and reliable production by monitoring equipment performance, operational routines, maintenance needs, work orders, and process data.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues, coordinate follow-up with maintenance, engineering, automation specialists, and vendors, and support structured root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate or support equipment tests, production trials, commissioning activities, management-of-change activities, and technical improvement projects.
  • Develop, review, and maintain standard operating procedures, equipment documentation, training materials, preventive-maintenance recommendations, and safe lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Provide technical training, certification support, coaching, and equipment guidance for operators and other production employees.
  • Help improve equipment reliability, hygiene and contamination controls, production capacity, maintenance efficiency, plant consumable use, and overall product flow.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of production processes and equipment, with the ability to safely command and operate the equipment within the assigned department.
  • Demonstrated equipment and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using SAP or a related maintenance, work-order, or enterprise system.
  • Ability to interpret operational information, equipment data, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, and technical partners across different functions and organizational levels.
  • A safety-minded, quality-focused approach and a commitment to applicable environmental, food safety, feed safety, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to organize work, maintain focus on priorities, and follow technical issues through to resolution.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with an interest in sharing knowledge and building the capabilities of others.

Additional skills & interests we value

  • Experience in a fermentation, biological production, food, feed, chemical, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with FAMI-QS, FSSC 22000, ISO standards, or comparable quality-management systems.
  • Experience analyzing process data using PI or a similar plant-information system.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, calibration, spare-parts planning, P&IDs, or equipment tagging.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, management of change, user-requirement specifications, or capital projects.
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods such as PDCA, A3, 3C, root-cause analysis, or Go Look See.
  • Experience providing technical training, mentoring operators, or supporting employee certification programs.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, plant consumables, shutdown activities, or small technical projects.

What we offer you

  • A highly collaborative role connecting production, engineering, maintenance, automation, sourcing, and technical projects.
  • Opportunities to expand your expertise in production technologies, equipment reliability, process improvement, and technical project execution.
  • The opportunity to serve as a trusted technical resource and help develop the capabilities of operators and production employees.
  • Meaningful involvement in improvements that support safety, quality, reliability, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • A workplace that values teamwork, initiative, continuous learning, and practical problem-solving.

Working conditions

  • This is an on-site position within a manufacturing and production environment at the Blair site.
  • The role requires regular movement through processing and production areas.
  • Employees must be able to climb stairs and ladders, access production equipment, and work at heights when required.
  • The position requires the safe use of applicable personal protective equipment, which may include a hard hat, safety eyewear, hearing protection, and respiratory protection.
  • Work may involve coordination with production, maintenance, or project activities outside normal working hours.

Compensation & benefits

  • Expected Starting Salary: $68k to $78k
  • Benefits include:
  • 401(k) with up to a 9% company contribution
  • 120 hours of vacation
  • 80 hours of wellness time
  • 32 hours of floating holiday
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
