Role context -

This vacancy is for a Consultant based in one of our London offices to support in the delivery and management of contaminated land assessment and remediation projects. This is a full time, permanent (40 hours per week) position and will be part of our Decommissioning, Restoration and Geosciences practice.

This position offers excellent career development potential, including training, mentoring and opportunities for international experience. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided. Core Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Supporting delivery of contaminated land assessment and remediation projects including: desk studies, site investigation, risk assessments, remediation options appraisals, remedial design and verification;
  • Undertaking the NEC Supervisor role for contaminated land remediation projects and supporting the NEC Project Manager. Training will be provided regarding the Supervisor role, but some previous experience is preferred.
  • Data management: review and interpretation;
  • Preparation of high-quality technical reports;
  • Field work including managing contractors on site;
  • Managing project health and safety on site including preparation of project HSSE plans and method statements; and,
  • Compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures

Knowledge and experience will include the following:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the contaminated land assessment process, human health and environmental risk assessment, development of site conceptual models, soil and groundwater remediation, analytical methodologies and sampling procedures;

  • Be able to write clear, logical and concise technical reports;

  • Demonstrate logical and independent thinking;

  • Strong ability to present, analyse and interpret data to a very high standard.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Be willing to travel and spend periods of time away on field-based projects across the UK and internationally; and

  • Be eligible to work in the UK and hold a full valid driving licence.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be educated to degree level (Master’s preferred) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Geology, Applied Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Consultancy, Geochemistry).
