Job Description

About Us

At Transgrid, our work improves the lives of millions – from lighting up sports fields, schools and homes, to powering the wheels of commerce and everything else in between. Now it’s your turn to make it happen.

This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity

In your role, you will be a trusted trainer and advisor, helping our teams build the skills they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. You’ll deliver accredited training programs and custom courses specifically in substations, using different methods to suit the needs of our people. You will also help design and improve training materials to make sure they’re practical, relevant, and engaging.

Our ideal candidate will understand how good training works, is comfortable using company systems, and has great people and communication skills to support and guide learners. This role can be based from any Transgrid location (Eastern Creek, Newcastle, Orange, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, or Yass).

About You

  • Certificate III Electrotechnology, and extensive relevant experience.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain within the first 6 months).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of substations, training delivery and evaluation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Transgrid’s Environmental and WHS policies and procedures.
  • A current NSW driver’s license.
  • A strong field presence and the ability to travel regularly across NSW

About Transgrid

We’ve ensured the smooth operation of over 11,517 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 136 substations and switching stations across NSW and the ACT, with interconnections to QLD and VIC.

Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation.

We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation.

As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind.

Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.
