Technical Business Analyst - Data Governance

We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a strong focus on Data Governance to join our dynamic team in the insurance industry. This role will involve collaborating with senior stakeholders to enhance data interactions and ensure that data needs are effectively met. You will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of our data governance framework as we expand our user base and data complexity.

Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation of the organization’s data governance framework, including data ownership and stewardship models, business glossary, data cataloguing, and data quality monitoring.

• Work with Data Owners and Stewards to define and maintain data quality rules, critical data elements, and data standards.

• Identify, prioritize, and report on data quality issues, ensuring timely remediation or escalation.

• Monitor adherence to governance standards and recommend improvements.

• Collaborate with the data engineering team to translate complex business requirements into actionable insights.

• Support data workstreams in business transformation programmes across CRM, finance, and underwriting.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and data quality enhancement.

• Conduct ad-hoc analysis and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong experience as a Business Analyst in a data-focused environment within the insurance industry.

• Proficiency in SQL (ANSI SQL or T-SQL).

• Good understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, data lineage, business glossaries, and data ownership models.

• Experience working with data platforms (e.g., Databricks, cloud data platforms).

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

• Strong stakeholder analysis & management and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with data quality tools and methodologies.

• Familiarity with data visualization tools.

• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration).

• Relevant certifications in Business Analysis or Data Governance are a plus.
