
CREAF is seeking to recruit a Technical Assistant to work on the MONUMENTAL project (Ecological status of monumental trees in Catalonia) with ref. 90038 funded by Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació, the SESELI project (Collection of demographic data and census of Seseli farrenyi in Cap de Creus Natural Park) with ref. PDR 33/2023 funded by Parc Natural Cap Creus, the AIGUAFLOR project (Monitoring of threatened and protected flora in Aiguamolls de l’Empordà) with ref. PD 032-23 funded by Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà and the COSTAFLORA project (Conservation strategy for heritage flora of the Occitan-Catalan coastline) with ref. IV00208 funded by European Comision.
A full-time contract is offered (37,5h per week), with immediate start, lasting until January 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on budget availability. The offered salary is €20.855,08 gross per year (corresponding to category T5B).
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
Data collection and processing
Database management
Conducting fieldwork
Identification of invertebrates and plants
Support in chemical and biological analyses within the project
Support in the preparation of publications, reports, and dissemination materials
Laboratory work.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, or equivalent
Experience in sampling monumental trees
Experience in database management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Good command of spoken and written Catalan
Availability to attend meetings and fieldwork activities
Category B driving license
Experience in fieldwork during summer months and under hot environmental conditions
Experience in sampling and mapping of threatened and protected species
Experience in translocation of threatened and protected flora
Respect for the natural environment
Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems)

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:

CREAF’s main objective is to generate knowledge and create new methodological tools in the field of terrestrial ecology, with special emphasis on forest ecology, in order to improve environmental planning and management in rural and urban areas. This is achieved through:
Basic research. CREAF conducts first-class, innovative basic research and a centre of excellence at both national and international levels.
Applied research. CREAF also conducts applied research, especially in the field of forestry. This research contributes to the sustainable management and conservation of resources and ecosystems.
Development of methodological and conceptual tools. These tools are designed to facilitate decision-making and improve environmental management.
Transfer and diffusion of knowledge. CREAF transfer scientific and technological know-how through training courses, consultation and various types of publications.
