The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund is seeking candidates for a Technical Assistance Advisor position in the TADAT Secretariat.
The TADAT Secretariat, located within FAD, manages a global tax administration diagnostic initiative sponsored by several donor countries, the IMF, and the World Bank (the TADAT partners). TADAT provides a standardized, objective, and evidence-based assessment of the relative strengths and weaknesses of a country’s system of tax administration and supports reform efforts aimed at improving tax administration performance.
The role will include contributing to the application of TADAT, the development and delivery of assessor and non-assessor training, reviewing TADAT assessment reports, participating in research activities, and preparing guidance and communication materials. Thus, it will require substantial experience in tax administration, especially at a managerial level and in providing technical assistance in tax administration.
The TADAT Secretariat actively aims to leverage digital technologies and more recently artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance quality assurance, and accessibility of its products, services, training programs, research, and internal operations.
Given the specialized nature of the TADAT Secretariat’s work, the applicant should have:
· An advanced university degree or equivalent in a field related to taxation, such as economics, accounting, law, or business administration, supplemented by four years of relevant professional experience.
· Priority will be given to candidates with 7+ years of experience in a tax administration or revenue authority.
· A sound understanding of tax administration performance management and measurement, broad experience in a modern tax administration environment (including at headquarters level) and/or have a well-developed practical understanding of operational performance management of a tax administration.
· Strong analytical, oral, and written communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
· Proficiency in other languages would be an advantage, particularly Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian or Arabic.
This is two-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.

Finally, the IMF provides countries with training to help them build the expertise and institutions they need for economic stability and growth. Supporting all of these activities is the institution's work in economic research and statistics.
