Position Summary

APAQ Group is looking for a Technical Area Manager.

Purpose

The role of Technical Area Manager is to lead the service team to provide product support, service, design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, operation, testing, calibration, repair, project management and execution of meteorological and air quality monitoring instruments for projects and customers in the ASEAN Region.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Regional Applications & Solutions Manager

Duties

  • Lead and manage the service team to support a range of monitoring applications including Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Systems (AQMS), gas analyzers, particulate emission monitors, meteorological instruments, process instruments and related data acquisition systems.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the service team to ensure timely project execution and technical services including design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, testing and repair of meteorological, air quality and emissions monitoring systems and instrumentation, including analysers, sensors, sampling systems, particulate monitors, data loggers, software and associated system components.
  • Oversee and ensure quality standards in technical services mentioned above.
  • Plan, assign and monitor service schedules and resources to meet project and client requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and endorse service reports, technical documentation, maintenance records, and commissioning reports.
  • Conduct and/or supervise training and prepare training materials for service team and customers.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for project proposals, tender submissions, and system upgrades.
  • Manage and execute projects including budget preparation and management, communication with clients, timeline management and project deliverables.
  • Maintain and manage, including sourcing, procurement, storage and disposal, of inventories and service equipment including tools, hardware, gas cylinders, chemicals and PPEs.
  • Responsible for occupational health and safety of the service team and risk management. Ensure all works performed by the team are compliant with safety regulations and company quality standards.
  • Responsible for management of hazardous substances procurement, handling, storage, use, transport, permit and licensing.
  • Occasional work outside of regular working hours may be required to support operational needs.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer issues, build and maintain strong relationships with customers to enhance service satisfaction and business continuity.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Environmental, or related fields).
  • Strong technical expertise and more than 10 years of hands-on field experience in sensors, analysers, instrumentation, air quality monitoring systems, data loggers, data communication protocols, data acquisition systems and software, CEMS and/or meteorological equipment.
  • Proven track record in leading a service team to design, install, commission, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and calibrate sensors, analysers, instruments and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with the team and clients.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and calibration skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and deep understanding or customer service standards and best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage resources, processes, and deadlines, as well as analytical skills to interpret data and make decisions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Customer-focused and committed to resolving technical problems to the customers’ satisfaction.
  • Able to work independently and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Class 3 driving license required.
  • Willing to travel both locally and overseas.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
