Job Description

Great architecture isn't just about the diagram, it's about what actually gets built. This is more than a design role. At Carnival UK, we're looking for a Technical Architect who will bring rigour and accountability to our supplier partnerships, owning the standards and reference architectures our partners build to and championing them across every delivery.

You'll define what "good" looks like, assure the quality of what's delivered, and raise the bar for consistency and craft across our technology estate. If you want your standards to shape an entire delivery ecosystem, this is your opportunity.

This pivotal role will involve:

  • Bridging the gap between solution architecture and engineering by owning and governing the low-level design phase.
  • Working closely with projects and outsourced/third-party engineering teams to set the standard for low-level design and ensure suppliers produce it.
  • Governing supplier output, checking that what is built matches the agreed solution design and meets defined technical standards.
  • Helping develop the engineering standards and reference architectures the business expects suppliers to follow.
  • This role is positioned at CUK07 level within our organisation and is available on a full-time, permanent basis. We offer hybrid work including up to two days from home.

What You'll Bring

Your unique background and skills are what will make you stand out. We're looking for:

  • Deep, hands-on technical experience, with the ability to translate architectural designs into real technical detail across CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automation and integration.
  • A strong grasp of modern architecture patterns, including event-driven architecture, microservices, scaling, security and observability (logging, monitoring and tracing).
  • Experience building engineering standards and reference architectures that delivery teams and suppliers follow.
  • Proven experience working with outsourcers, suppliers and partners within third-party and commercial delivery constructs.

About You: The Ideal Candidate

You are more than just your CV. You're someone who brings:

  • A strong collaborator, able to bring the supplier base together to bridge the gap between the organisation and its suppliers.
  • The confidence to set, enforce and govern standards with external suppliers.
