The Technical Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership, architecture design, and delivery oversight across complex client engagements and internal project teams. This role combines hands-on architecture expertise with project delivery leadership to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with client business objectives.
The Technical Architect serves as a senior technical advisor to Delivery and Service Operations teams, working closely with Project Delivery Managers, Operations Managers, Project Managers, and Technical Leads to ensure successful project execution. In addition to providing technical governance and strategic guidance, the role will actively participate in billable client engagements, helping to expand service offerings and strengthen client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
- Design end-to-end technology solutions that align with business requirements, industry best practices, and organizational standards.
- Develop architecture blueprints, technical roadmaps, and implementation strategies.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, frameworks, and tools to support current and future business needs.
- Define integration strategies, infrastructure architectures, and security requirements.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Directly provide delivery services as well as senior technical support for the Delivery and Service Operations teams.
- Work closely with the Project Delivery Manager, Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Project Delivery Team Leads to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Deliver services within complex projects where advanced subject matter expertise is required.
- Provide billable overlay services to support the successful delivery of large and complex engagements while ensuring quality, consistency, and risk mitigation.
- Work across delivery teams to provide technical expertise, guidance, and tactical planning support.
- Attend Initial Planning Meetings (IPM) and collaborate with Project Managers and Project Leads to identify project risks, dependencies, and technical challenges.
- Assume the Project Lead role for complex engagements as requested by the Project Delivery Manager.
- Participate in architecture reviews, solution validation, and technical governance activities.
Client Engagement
- Engage in strategic and tactical architecture engagements with clients.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Identify opportunities to expand Charter's footprint within existing accounts by driving greater depth and breadth of services.
- Support pre-sales efforts, solution development, statements of work, and technical presentations.
- Contribute to client satisfaction, account growth, and revenue objectives.
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Incorporate security-by-design principles into all architecture and solution designs.
- Conduct technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, industry regulations, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with security and operational teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain strong governance practices.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for modernization, automation, and operational improvements.
- Develop standards, frameworks, and reusable architecture patterns.
- Mentor technical teams and contribute to the organization's technical capability development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud, systems engineering, solution delivery, or architecture roles.
- 3+ years of experience in a Technical Architect, Solutions Architect, or senior technical leadership position.
- Proven experience leading complex technical projects and enterprise solution implementations.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, and enterprise application integration.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery methodologies and operational support processes.
- Exceptional communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead technical discussions with both business and technical audiences.
