As a Technical Analyst at FortisBC, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the end users at FortisBC. This includes, but is not limited to, desktop computing, mobile computing, communications, end-user support, printing devices, network infrastructure and server storage, data centre equipment.

Responsibilities

Performs all of the duties of a Technical Analyst 1 & 2 plus the following (e.g. specific duties of the job):

  • Provide frontline and advanced technical infrastructure support and lead technical diagnostics on current systems.
  • Respond to client calls and incident tickets for support
  • Fulfil technology service requests
  • Troubleshoot all infrastructure hardware (hardware and company standard software)
  • Perform upgrades, installations, preventive maintenance tasks
  • Repair Computer/Server software and/or hardware and work with external vendors to obtain repairs when necessary.
  • Liaise with senior support on behalf of client
  • Set-up/deliver Infrastructure equipment, dispose of excess surplus equipment.
  • Track work performed in problem management system, prepare progress reports, administer and maintain corporate infrastructure assets.
  • Maintain up-to-date advanced knowledge of the company’s Infrastructure systems.
  • Administer multiple resources, task breakdown, and delegation and set milestones.
  • Estimate/manage/complete a series of tasks required for an intermediate or large project.
  • Provide senior technical support to company infrastructure current systems.
  • Help develop, design, lead and architect the IS Infrastructure Technology Roadmap
  • Identifies and prioritizes IS infrastructure initiatives to plan appropriate projects.
  • Identifies functional and technical requirements, defines project scope, identifies projectresourcing requirements and develops project budget estimates and project charters, and the evaluation of Requests for Proposal. Helps prepares business cases for project funding approval.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of strategic, financial, regulatory, safety, and reputational impactful infrastructure systems. Effectively developing, implementing, and unit testing solutions to meet corporate policies, cyber, business and system requirements. Maintenance may consist of writing of structured specifications, programming and the development of unit test plans, deployment and post implementation activities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to cope successfully with diversity and complexity in a dynamic environment.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Technician and Technical analyst roles
  • Some travel may be required

Requirements

  • 2 year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • 6 years’ experience related work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of end-user computing, data center, server and virtualization, data storage and backup, networking, telecommunications, collaboration environments, cloud technology, cyber security and peripherals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially to understand requirements and provide solutions. As well as, interfacing with end-users and with large teams.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Competency in managing small to medium sized projects.
  • Ability to analyze problems.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s license.

Additional Information

If there are no fully qualified Technical Analyst 3 applicants, the following may be considered:

  • Technical Analyst 2 (job group 9) applicants with 4 years related work experience

This role is primarily for the Enterprise Patch Management team in which we concentrate on keeping the enterprise environment up to date for all hardware and software connected to the network.

In this role you will need to be:

  • Experienced in SCCM, Intune, and Update Manager.
  • Experienced with Ansible and Linux RedHat administration and patching.
  • Experienced with iOS and Android patching.
  • Experienced with Windows Server and Endpoint Patching and Management.
  • Interested in automation.
