Job Description

About Us

IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia.

Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively. IAG is recognised as Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.

The Role

Join a major technology uplift program supporting the redesign and sourcing of next‑generation network and gateway services. You’ll help shape future‑state technical requirements, assess modern industry solutions, and contribute expert insight across a structured procurement process. This is a chance to influence a high‑impact transformation, work with senior stakeholders, and bring contemporary technical thinking into a complex enterprise environment.

This role is offered in either Canberra, ACT or Docklands, VIC.

Technical Advisor (2 positions available):

As a Technical Advisor, you will support the development of technical requirements, evaluation activities and procurement documentation for a major network and gateway sourcing initiative. You will analyse current‑state materials, identify capability gaps, and contribute to future‑state architectural options.

You will participate in technical assessments of provider submissions, review clarification responses, and prepare structured written evaluations that inform scoring, negotiation positions and governance reporting. You will support the development of technical inputs to procurement artefacts, including requirements, risk considerations, transition planning and market‑facing documentation.

Your role spans definitional, selection, evaluation and negotiation phases, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex technical information. You will also contribute to knowledge transfer activities, helping uplift internal capability across operational and technology teams.

About You

You bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience working across large and complex network and gateway environments.
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting or advising on ICT procurements in government or regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network and gateway technologies, including architecture, security, resilience, automation and cost considerations.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, identifying capability gaps, and assessing solution options.
  • Ability to identify integration constraints, transition risks, coexistence challenges and decommissioning considerations.
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience preparing structured technical assessments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple streams in a structured program environment.

Other requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline security clearance (Australian citizenship required).
  • Ability to work from Canberra or Melbourne, with hybrid/WFH arrangements considered.
  • Comfortable working within structured governance, procurement and reporting frameworks.
